'MOUSE-ABOUT'

The Astech Approach Mouse Skills step in The Astech Approach to assistive technology training

This CD is a fun way for disabled and able-bodied children to learn basic computer mouse skills.

'Mouse-about' is the second program in the junior Mouse Skills series and expands on the skills learned in 'Songs and Stories Mouse Skills'. As well as continuing to teach children how to roll over and click on objects on the screen, the new skill is clicking on an object and dragging it.

Suitable for
pre-school and junior primary school children learning how to use a mouse for the first time. It has been specifically designed for children with physical and learning disabilities but is also suitable for able-bodied children especially those with short attention spans and fine motor control and hand-eye co-ordination problems.

This may vary from child to child. Please contact us if you wish some advice on which title would be best for your child.

The simple, bold graphics move around on a plain contrasting background which helps children to concentrate. Fun sounds and the animation also grab and hold attention.

The mouse skill steps in
'Mouse-about' are:

Step 1 Roll-about
Rolling the cursor over a stationary target to trigger the next page to play.

'Farmyard Roll-about'

'Roll-about Tools'

'Christmas Tree Roll'.

Step 2 Click-about
Clicking the mouse on a stationary target to trigger the next page to play.

'Transport Click'

'Household Click'

'Christmas Tree Click'

'Cat & Mouse Click'.

Step 3 Drag-about
Dragging objects around the screen by holding the mouse button down on an object and moving the mouse around wherever they like or to specified locations.

'Animal Drag'

'Fire Engine Drag'

'Racing Car Drag'

'House Drag'.

'Transport Click' ....
Click on the train, plane, car, helicopter, fire engine and racing car and see them animate with fun sounds.

'Cat and Mouse Click' Pip the Cat is chasing after Squeek the mouse. Can you help Squeek escape up the stairs?

'Fire Engine Drag' ....
Drag the pieces together to form a fire engine.

	'Christmas Tree Roll' and 'Christmas Tree Click' can also be found on Astech's new switch training software program, 'Christmas Tree Fun'.

Touchscreens This CD can be used with a touchscreen but the verbal cues refer to a mouse and do not tell the child to 'touch'. Version 2s of 'Songs and Stories Mouse Skills' and 'Fun and Adventures Mouse Skills' now have a section for switch users and another one with touchscreen verbal cues.
