'SIGHTS AND SOUNDS

These CD-ROMs have the same collection of fun and everyday sound effects. The programs provide learning and physically disabled children with a simple but effective way of learning and practicing switch skills.

The 'Sights and Sounds'switch training programs are available in 'Press'
and 'Press Wait' types. See the Switch page for more information about these types of programs.

Suitable for - children of all ages, especially those with short attention spans and vision impairments.

The variety of short sound effects and simple graphics keeps children's attention.

 The simple, bold graphics move around on a plain contrasting background which helps children to concentrate.    
             
 
   


CD-ROMs contain:
Sets of 6 short sound effects with simple animations:

  • animal sounds - hen, cat, cow, pig ....
  • household noises - phone, toilet, tap, clock ....
  • cartoon - boings, crashes ....
  • transport - car, helicopter, train, racing car .....
  • people - laughter, sneeze, clapping, brushing teeth ......
  • tools - hammer, saw, drill ....
  • rhythm - short lively drum rhythms
  • mixed - mixture of noises to add surprise
        

Selection of Sets

Adults use a mouse to select specific sets or groups of sets from a simple interface. The child then uses the switch to go from one sound to another. The sounds are short and attention grabbing with graphics and animations that are bold and simple.

This makes the 'Sights and Sounds' programs ideal for children who cannot concentrate for long.

       Independent Use

Once the child can press the switch on cue, they can use parts of the program independently as the sets and groups of sets keep repeating until the mouse is used to return to the Home page.

Mouse using children will also have fun using 'Sights and Sounds' on their own or alongside the switch using child.

MOUSE ACCESS FOR CHILDREN USING SWITCH SOFTWARE
